The Mont Times

Another day another dollar

Posted in Work by Brian on the August 13th, 2008

Good afternoon all you blog fans out there. Here we are on a beautiful summer day and alas we are at work. Sitting in our offices working or pretending to work while we read about the olympics.

I do enjoy my work, however somedays I would rather be outside, going for a run or drawing my cartoons. I’ve got a busy few months ahead of me for it’s project time here at USMD where I work. And I’ve also in the middle of several projects at home. I’ll hopefully be talking about those soon.

Also in other news I updated my site and now some things are not working the way they should so it’s back to work even though I don’t get paid…

At least it’s a learning experiance.

Back to work… :)

The office

Posted in Times by Brian on the August 12th, 2008

So here is my office, nothing much to see. I’ve printed off a few cartoons to make me smile.
It’s not a bad place to be but I’m really looking forward to going home, as I always do. Right now the time is getting closer to when I leave.

Ah, I do enjoy my office.

Gaming in 2008

Posted in PS3 by Brian on the January 25th, 2008

Ok, so right now my hot topic is the PS3. I just started picking up some games for the system, COD4 and Burnout Paradise and I have to say that I think these two games are awesome. Now there are some issues that playing the PS3 more has brought up. Now with COD4 my roommate and my friend Kevin want to play, and we really love the game, problem is that they are unable to login to their profiles because the Playstation only allows for one profile to be loaded at any given time. This is fine for single player games but when everyone wants to play online it then makes a whole mess out of what could be a simple issue. In contrast the 360 allows for 4 profiles to be signed in at once.I’ve emailed Sony and posted on their forums, I’m not expecting an immediate fix, but it will hopefully make the roster for a system update in the future. If this does come true, I’ll be one happy camper.

The Ultimate Apple

Posted in Apple by Brian on the January 17th, 2008

Ok, so just for fun, I customed out a MAC on the website with everything that I could think of to make the machine sing… So here are the specs:

  •  Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon proccessors
  • 32GB of RAM
  • Mac Pro RAID card
  • 4 X 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA Hard Drives
  • NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 1.5GB Video Card
  • 2 Apple Cinema HD Displays (30″)
  • Two Superdrives
  • AirPort Extreme Card
  • Quad Channel 4GB Fibre Channel PCI Express Card
  • Apple USM Modem
  • Apple Wireless Keyboard
  • iWork 08
  • Final Cut Express
  • Apeture 1.5
  • Logic Express
  • Canon PIXMA MX700
  • 1 Year .Mac
  • AppleCare Protection Plan

And what is the grand total?$25,341.90  What! Wow! Now that is only two of the support 8 30 inch monitors that the system supports… If you were to add six more monitors to the system, along with the cards, you’d be looking at another $15,000 bringing the total to around $40,000. Now, who doesn’t have that kind of cash on hand?To be fair, the machine itself out of the factory is quite impressive starting at $2,700. I hopefully will be able to get one here in the next six months, but I’ll stick to the below $3,000 model. :)
